At least up here in Canada, Thanksgiving is on its way. I always enjoyed it as a child mostly because we got the weekend off school. I less enjoyed the family gathering-stress-foofla that went along with it. One part of Thanksgiving that we never really took part in or thought about is what we are thankful for. At first glance the question is a quick read and quick answer.
It's easy, at least for me, to say a house over my head or good friends or even family. It takes a little more work and courage to look deep. I like to make lists and gratitude is a great list. I try and sit for at least 5 minutes and fill up an entire page of all the things I'm grateful for. When the page is full I try and do a little more and push a little harder. It's always nice to see surprising things on that list or something that you really appreciate.
I am going to do a 3 part project series to celebrate giving Thanks. One of my good friends just recently finished her qualifications to become a teacher. Her stories of the trials and tribulations of teaching inspired this project. Teachers are valuable resources and they spend so much time with the next generation. They can always use a thank you.
This project doesn't require a whole lot of supplies and even if you bought everything new you would still come in under $5.00.
Supplies:
- 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock (you can even use scraps!)
- Pattern Paper (scraps are great here too!)
- Adhesive: I used a glue pen and double sided tape
- A few extra scraps in coordinating colours
- 1 handstitched felt apple
- a scrap of ribbon or 1/2 metre
- A scoring tool
- Trimmer
- hole or slot punch
- black microfine pen
